Correction of your writing exercises

Your assignments will be marked following this rubric used for selectivitat.

Learning to write is a process. It takes time and a lot of perseverance and hard work. You learn to write by reading and writing extensively. It's also important to receive feedback on your exercises.

For the feedback to be useful, you need to dedicate time to understand this feedback and see how you can improve your texts. I'll use this correction key when marking your assignments.

Always look at the feedback you receive and use the code to write a new, corrected version of your text. 

What's in a name?

In Unit 1 we've started to get to know each other. We spoke about names and how important they can be for each one of us. We listened to you to different songs:

• Say my name, by Bebe Rexha, David Guetta and J. Balvin

• A Boy Named Sue, by Jonnhy Cash

  

In the comments below, you can share your thoughts about your own name and how you feel about it. All your contributions will be counted for your mark.

Preparing for the Initial Test

In our next class full-group class we are going to do an Initial Test. This will allow me to have an idea of the general skills of the group and, very important, to discover the abilities and needs of each one
of you.

This exam is important for the group and for you individually, as it will be your first mark in English this year. To prepare for it you should:

• Review the section Grammar Basics on pages 122- 130 of the Student's Book. 
• Review the Writing Guide on pages 152-164.
• Have a look at the rest of the sections (Glossary, Functional Language, Easily Confused Words,...)
• Use these Revision worksheets extra practice. Do:
• exercise #1 on each page
• at least 12 exercises in total
• at least 2 exercises on each page. 
• Use this answer key to check your answers.

Getting to know each other

We're going to spend some time together in the next few months, so it's a good idea to get to know each other a little bit better. These numbers have some connection with me or things I like, do or have done.

Ask questions to try to discover what they refer to.

Examples:

• Is 1992 the year of your birthday?
• Did you get married on the 30th of June 2001?
• Why did you write 3.06 - 6.03?
